LEND A HAND TO HISTORY
Do you recall the stories your grandparents
and parents shared with you about growing up in the area, be it Apollo,
Freeport, Brackenridge, New Kensington or any little town in the area? Did
you ever wonder how they could to walk to school, regardless of the weather,
uphill both ways? Well, here at the Heritage Museum we actually found out
how that could be – yes it is true!
Our goal here at the museum is to keep the
local history alive for future generations, but we are in need of your help
to make it possible. We are a non-profit organization and depend on
volunteers; all members of the board are volunteers, to help in all areas of
the museum. Some positions are: docent (tour guide), phone solicitation,
maintenance, fund raising, grounds keeping, publicity/public relations,
program/project planning, grant writing, and clerical are just a few, the
sky is the limit for the use of your talent.
Come and learn how you can help us to
achieve our goal of keeping the local history alive for future generations.
Our current volunteers will be on hand to give you the over picture of the
museum and answer any questions you might have. You do not need a degree in
history to help us, just a willingness to share your time and talent with
others. We will be more than willing to teach you the ropes. Your schedule
will be set around your needs and you may decide how much time you are able
to share for this worthwhile cause. Anywhere from and hour a week to a day
a month, the range is wide open.
